2D Animation - II Module

This 2D Animation course is designed for those who wish to comprehensively learn animation. The course is filled with practical exercises and ensures the improvement of beginner animators’ skills and their professional development.

This course is the second level of the modular 2D Animation program. It is intended for learners who wish to deepen and further develop their knowledge and skills in 2D animation. The module focuses on an in-depth study of character movement, emotions, and gestures.


Software used during the course: TV Paint


Minimum technical requirements:

Any combination of a computer and drawing tablet suitable for digital drawing, or an iPad with a stylus, or any other Android tablet with a stylus.


Learning format: Hybrid


Prerequisite: Completion of 2D Animation Module I or an Introduction to 2D Animation course is required.

About Instructor

Nana Samanishvili is a Georgian animator, director, artist, and educator who has been contributing to Georgian animation for several decades. Her practical experience, cinematic language, and pedagogical work play a significant role in the development of Georgian animation.


Among the many important animated works she has contributed to is Davit Takaishvili’s acclaimed film “The Plague” (“La peste”), awarded at the Cannes Film Festival. She has also worked on numerous internationally recognized animations, including The King and the Bird, Babilina, The Earth Demands Its Due, Grandma, and others. Her directorial debut, the short animated film “Zolemia” (2021) is distinguished by its rich visual language and profound themes such as the search for identity, conflict with the environment, and the preservation of individuality. The film also gained attention at international festivals.


At DAS, Nana Samanishvili will lead 2D Animation course, which offers an in-depth, comprehensive study of every stage of animation production. Together with her, you will go through the complete process of creating a 2D animated film.
